Back to all newsThe WHO and UNICEF Evaluation Offices have commissioned an independent mid-term review of the GTFCC, conducted by Cambridge Economic Policy Associates (CEPA). The first draft of the final report was shared with the Evaluation Steering Group and Evaluation Reference Group members by the WHO Evaluation Office, on behalf of the evaluators, on January 6, 2025, for review and comments.
From January 29–31, 2025, members of the Global Task Force on Cholera Control (GTFCC) convened at WHO Headquarters in Geneva for a three-day workshop dedicated to the findings of the GTFCC 2030 Roadmap Mid-Term Review. To encourage open discussions, the format retained for this workshop included steering committee members and external participants.
The workshop was moderated by a team of consultants from Ad Valoris and opened by Dr. Mike Ryan, Executive Director of WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme and Deputy Director-General. Participants engaged in in-depth deliberations on the evaluation’s key recommendations aimed at strengthening the operational effectiveness and impact of the GTFCC.
Central to the workshop were discussions on strategies to guide implementation through 2030. Specific emphasis was placed on strategic planning until 2030, the roles and coordination of GTFCC bodies, resource mobilization, advocacy, WASH integration, and monitoring and evaluation. The outcomes of the workshop will help shape the next phase of the Roadmap, ensuring it remains responsive, inclusive, and fit for purpose in the evolving cholera landscape.
